KING PHILIPHello. Today I am going to talk about KING PHILIP's war, which took place from 1675 to 1676 in Southern New England. King Philip was the leader of the Wampanoag tribe. He fought the English settlers because he thought they killed his brother.
Did you know that the Native Americans find signs in nature.Thats cool. King Philip saw a lunar eclipse as a sign that his tribe should go to war against the settlers.
One thing that supprised me was the Native Americans and the settlers where helping each other at first.
One thing I thought about was the war. Life was good untill then, the war.People and children where killed and Native A mericans where killed as well.
What do you know about Kind Philip?
P.S this isnt my idea but just some school work my mom told me to write.
I learnbed something about King Phillip and the native Americans. Thank you, Maizy.
ReplyDeleteThe best thing about studing history is that you can learn things from it so that just maybe you won't make the same mistakes.
I like it when you post things on your blog... and it will help you to get better and better about sharing your thoughts and ideas with others.
Thanks again for sharing and have a great weekend.
Keep your eye on those chickens, ok?
Love you, Grandpa
I didn't know anything about King Phillip -- or Metacomet which was his native name -- until I read a bit this morning. Did you know why the war started? Because his neighbors, to colonists, kept building things on his property. Hmmm..
ReplyDeleteThanks for writing these posts.
Maizy, this is great. Sometimes school work feels like, 'what's that about?' and yet you learn something you never knew before and so do we.
ReplyDeleteWhat struck me the hardest about your story was the lack of respect that the settlers sometimes showed the native people and maybe it was the same the other way too. I just know that I have found (in my old age...you know...full of wisdom :) ) that the more respectfully we treat our neighbours the better life will proceed.
Thank you for your report! It was great.
